Dec. 12. The Davidson community is invited to attend the next meeting about the proposed Veterans Monument at 5 pm Monday, Dec. 12, at Davidson Town Hall.
Davidson staff is working on the development and construction of a Veterans Monument and is seeking the support of Davidson residents, including those who have served.
The effort will include determining the site for the monument, the development of a concept, fundraising and construction.
The Davidson Public Arts Commission set aside $25,000 to start the process, but it is estimated that a monument and perhaps related artwork will cost much more.
Fundraising for the monument will begin next year.

Maybe Davidson can move the Confederate Monument from Cornelius, change the wording and save some money.
Let’s keep the monument free of any reference to race, ethnicity, sex, socioeconomic status or political correctness.
Maybe use that 25K for literally anything else to help the community or people in need. Donate it to a school, the VFA, or a community center. Spending that money on statue doesn’t actually do anything for veterans, its a blank gesture and waste of resources.
