March 3. Cornelius resident Tommy Walker had more than 50 years experience in appliance repair and operated Tommy’s Appliance Service until retiring a few years ago. Starting this month, Tommy will offer the community his advice for various appliances.
Dishwashers today move much less water, so they have to run longer to achieve the same performance level as before.
You can help jumpstart the cleaning process by always running the water at your kitchen sink to get it hot before starting the dishwasher.
If you can keep your hand under the running water, then your water is not hot enough.
As in washing machines, I use powder for better washability.
Hope this helps and have a good day, Tommy

I love this! You are the best, Tommy! Will look forward to this feature in upcoming issues.
As always, Thanks Tommy!
Hi Tommy, I have an older model Whirlpool top loading washer. It is very sensitive to being off balance and “walks” and makes terrible noise sometimes. Is there anyway I could have the lock lid item removed so that I could reposition the load by hand without restarting the whole wash cycle?
Oh my goodness! I miss you Tommy! We loved when you were helping us take good care of our homes and I have thought of you and your business a lot. So happy to see you here on Cornelius Today and I am looking forward to many more awesome tips from you! I already do this one – probably because you had told us about it a few years ago! Thank you! You are missed and are welcomed here!
