April 5. Does the high cost of college worry you? Besides being a good deal for the first half of an undergraduate degree, Central Piedmont Community College offers options for the second half. They’re also partnering with Lees-McRae College to establish not just a Guaranteed Admission Program, but eligibility for merit scholarships of up to 50 percent of Lees-McRae’s annual tuition—a potential savings on the order of $15,000 a year.
The program will begin with the fall 2024 semester.

The high cost of college is a concern for many, and Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) offers a promising solution.
From my experience as student body president and personal analysis from a small business perspective, CPCC presents a compelling alternative that surpasses the benefits often associated with a traditional four-year college straight out of high school.
While cost is a significant factor, CPCC provides more than just financial relief. It offers a structured yet flexible approach, allowing students to build a solid foundation for their academic and professional journey while saving money. By having the option to transfer to partner institutions & state colleges, and with the prospect of significant merit scholarships, CPCC students can potentially save thousands of dollars annually.
Moreover, CPCC provides valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth through part-time job experiences and a supportive learning environment. This, coupled with the ability to focus on individual interests during the latter part of their education, sets students up for a strong and positive start to their future.
CPCC stands as a local asset that is often underutilized and underappreciated. When considering where our tax money goes, CPCC exemplifies government spending done right.
It not only addresses the financial concerns surrounding higher education but also nurtures students’ academic and personal development, making it a wise investment in our community’s future.
