More ‘active adult’ residential planned near downtown
Caroline Mixed-Use Development
Feb. 25. By Dave Vieser. Proffit Dixon, a Charlotte based developer, hopes to build a mixed-use project on 17 acres just north of downtown Cornelius. Dubbed “Caroline,” the project would include active adult residences on land that adjoins Greenway Gartens, the mixed-use project planned by Olde Mecklenburg Brewery at the north end of Zion Avenue.

Mayor Woody Washam said the Proffit Dixon plan was a “crucial component to our downtown revitalization.”
The team which presented the project was like a who’s who of Lake Norman: Former Cornelius Mayor Chuck Travis, a prominent architect; former Davidson Commissioner Brian Jenest; and Susan Irvin, a leading commercial real estate attorney based in Cornelius.

More specific details of the plans will be forthcoming when a formal application is filed with the town.
Proffitt Dixon Partners was founded in 2010 and focuses on multifamily residential, active adult, and
mixed-use projects in the Carolinas and Tennessee. The Mooresville Town Square Center near Lowe’s Supermarket off of Williamson Road is one of their projects.
