Missing Madalina: Mother, stepfather plead not guilty

Missing Madalina: Last independent sighting Nov. 21 on CMS bus
Aug. 18. WSOC has reported that the mother and step-father of 12-year-old Madalina Cojocari have pleaded not guilty for failing to report her missing for more than three weeks.
The case, which is expected to proceed to trial, has perplexed law enforcement and citizens alike since she was reported missing Dec. 15.

Palmiter
Diana Cojocari and her husband, Christopher Palmiter, have both been charged with failure to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. The family lived in Victoria Bay in a house valued at $473,000.
Cojocari and Palmiter first appeared in court in April and had bonds set at $250,000 and $200,000, respectively. On Thursday WSOC reported the judge set bond for him at $25,000 secured. Both have been in jail since December 2022.

How is the value of their house relevant to the story?
You might not know this if you have not been following the case, but there have been many theories about why two parents would have sold their daughter for drugs. Many think she was sold into the sex trade. The fact that they lived a comfortable life in Cornelius in a half-a-million-dollar home is relevant and why this is even more perplexing. The father had a good job at Ingersoll (I think). No one can figure out the reasoning. They were not desperate financially. As a mother of two girls I would sell my soul to keep my children safe. Nothing makes sense. Hope that helps you understand why that fact is relevant.
