Step up to the Mikes: Miltich, Tobin interview for LKN Marine Commission

Sept. 9. A Mecklenburg County committee will meet Sept. 10 to interview potential candidates for the new Lake Norman Marine Commission. The county will appoint two members to the commission from a list of five candidates that includes two Cornelius residents – Dr. Mike Miltich and Michael Tobin.

Miltich is an active member of the community, having served as a Cornelius town commissioner from 2016-2021, including one term as mayor pro tem. He has lived here since 1995.

Tobin is an attorney who graduated from the United States Naval Academy.

The other interview candidates are Gregory Trusdell of Huntersville, and Robby Maschhaupt and Richard Gaskins of Charlotte.

The newly-reconstituted commission will oversee Lake Norman and its shoreline in matters related to public recreation, water quality and safety.

Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties will each appoint two members to the new commission. Initially, one commissioner will serve a four-year term and the other a five-year term. After that, all terms will be five years.

The Ad Hoc Interview Committee of county commissioners consists of chair Elaine Powell, Laura Meier, Susan Rodriguez-McDowell and Yvette Townsend-Ingram.

The meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. at  Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center, 2nd Floor, Room 286

    Best get someone who can clearly understand and speak to: NCGS 75A, with the constraints of NC S. B. 300. Along with title 46 CFR restrictions and if they are really smart…. Title 33 CFR and how all these apply to LKN. Also, once again, be advised Capt. Andy will be watching every posture! Comments? Please reply below.
