March 20. By Dave Yochum. Fox and Hound, a mainstay in Birkdale Village for 20 years, has abruptly closed. It’s located next to the new Bartaco, a major new investment in Birkdale, along with expansions or improvements at Brixx, Eez Fusion and a makeover/rebranding Dressler’s, now known as Fin & Fino.

Fox and Hound served burgers and sandwiches, bowls, cocktails, wine and beer, holding popular trivia nights each Wednesday night as well.

Birkdale Village changes

Birkdale Village has undergone a two-year transition to a more upscale mix on the retail side. Birkdale officials said Fox and Hound’s lease is expiring.

“We have mutually agreed to part ways. We are grateful for the community’s support of the restaurant and look forward to sharing an exciting update about the space soon,” they said in an email this morning.

Qdoba closed in 2022, where Brixx is now located.

Background

“Fox and Hound had a good run but it needed to be totally remodeled,” one patron said in an email to Cornelius Today/Business Today.

Red Rocks spent between $700,000 and $800,000 on a renovation last year.

The Huntersville location has already been removed from parts of the Fox and Hound corporate website. Corporate could not be reached for comment.

Sad to see it go but praying it gets replaced with a new sports bar like a Miller’s Ale House.

Miller’s Ale House would be awesome here! I wish there was a franchising option for it.

Sadly this Fox & Hounds had terrible food and was always freezing. No reason to spend money there.

Birkdale is becoming even more of an overpriced hole for overly made up divorced women and men who like to pretend they are younger than they are .
There are much better places that are actually cultured in which the price is worth the time to visit.

In effect, Birkdale is all show and very little go.

Just an asinine comment. It’s an outdoor mall. What mall has culture? It’s a great place that is packed because it is unique and a great place to spend some time.

You and your negativity should stay far away from Birkdale.

Bless your heart! Sounds like Northlake Mall is where you belong. Enjoy!

This has been a long time coming! Should have closed down years ago.

Yeah time to to go but just think whoever runs Birkdale village now are trying to draw more of a different culture there. Which is not good. Different Culture will draw different Problems.

They are trying to attract people with money to spend. How is that nor good?

The parking sucks on the weekend.

Weekends ?? Any day . Parking is a main reason we do not frequent Birkdale often . Do enjoy cheese cake factory though .

The LLC that owns Fox & Hound has “suddenly” closed other locations, including September 2023 at Mayfaire in Wilmington, NC. Don’t blame Birkdale, as the restaurant probably wasn’t able to pay their bills to stay in business. Birkdale probably has a waiting list of stores and/or restaurants that can attract people with money to spend.

Agreed, food wasn’t that great, staff not friendly. Sat thirty minutes with my mom one day Noone every came, so we walked out….manager came running out with gift card and apology.

You know everyone is paying for Red Rocks Reno. We made reservations for the Fathers Day brunch buffet. It was like choosing from leftovers from the night before. I kid you not. Fresh breakfast items scarce. Pork, beef, salmon and some kind of vegetable medley. We haven’t been back.

Fox & Hound JUST closed at Northlake too. In fact all their NC restaurants have closed recently. I agree w/ Julie that Red Rocks of old is gone, the new is just not good. If they don’t step their game up the consumer with $$ will be dictating change. The developers that now own Birkdale know what they are doing based on consumer demand. Northlake is dying and actually has the audacity to ask the “clientele” that destroyed it to help it rebuild it. If you are part of the problem (destruction) , you can’t be part of the solution. Green is the only color that matters. $$$
