Christy Clark

Like many people in Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson, I grew up in a middle-class family. I’m a proud product of public schools and was the first in my family to go to college. I co-founded a small business with my husband that is located in Davidson. As a mom of five, I know the day-to-day life many families live. I currently serve on the Agriculture, Environment, Judiciary, Capital Appropriations and Regulatory Reform committees. If re-elected to the NC House, I will continue to:

• Champion our public schools and educators by advocating for more funding.

• Stand up to I-77 Mobility partners, advocate for local transportation projects and demand support for North Mecklenburg from NCDOT.

• Close the healthcare coverage gap.

• Pass gun laws like background checks on every gun sale to keep our children safe.

• Protect our drinking water from corporate polluters and ensure cancer clusters are investigated.

• Pass legislation to end gerrymandering to ensure fair and safe voting.

• Support small businesses and start ups to ensure they have a strong foundation for success.

John Bradford

I am running for the NC House of Representatives because I want to serve everyone in Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville. I want to fight for common-sense legislation and policies. Not only am I a small business owner right here in District 98, but I’m also an experienced public servant. When I served in the NC House from 2015-2018, I was the Deputy Majority Whip, Co-Chair of the Mecklenburg Legislative Delegation, and Chairman of the Regulatory Reform and State & Local Government Committees. If I am elected to the NC House, I will fight to:

• Continue to support and be an advocate for better teacher pay.

• Remove burdensome business regulations so small business owners can create jobs and achieve economic prosperity.

• Lower taxes so that more money is returned to hard-working individuals.

• Reduce the size of government and stop wasteful spending.

• Support law enforcement and give them resources for additional training.

• Advocate for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities such as in-dividuals with Down syndrome and autism.

• Hold the NCDOT accountable for safer road and highway conditions.

• Protect animals from unsafe breeding conditions and animal cruelty.

I’ve made it a priority to fight for everyone in our community, and I hope to continue to serve the people of House District 98.

Do you have a question you’d like asked of both candidates? We’ll ask them a series of questions in the September and October editions. Email your questions to [email protected]

How is this an issue? Are children being killed with private transferred guns in NC? If so give me some stats.

How do the candidates feel about education vouchers vs public schools.
