April 4. Davidson resident Lisa Jewel has announced her candidacy for NC House District 98 which is currently held by Cornelius resident John Bradford whose frequent opponent has been Democrat Christy Clark.
“I am kicking off my campaign early in one of the marquee political races in North Carolina. Announcing early is important to develop name recognition, create campaign infrastructure and build strong relationships with people of the district,” said Jewel.

She has been a precinct poll worker and poll judge, as well as Democratic chair of Precinct 127 in Davidson.
Background
Back in December, Clark said she would run against Bradford for a fourth time this coming fall. In the 2022 rematch of their close 2020 race, Bradford won 17,925 votes vs Clark’s 17,064. It was similar to the outcome in 2020, but Clark won in 2018.
Bradford is the only Republican in the Mecklenburg County delegation in Raleigh—all the others are Democrats.

Clark and Jewell will be a great Demo ticket. One strong R candidate should take them out with ease. Don’t need any more liberal Dems in office.
We don’t want Bradford. He voted in favor to allow Air B&B and others to rent homes for stays or parties. Most neighborhoods don’t want rental properties, for obvious reasons. Lowers property values, less upkeep, loud noise, large groups gathering, police involvement, etc. Peninsula is not included, their covenants don’t allow it. While Mr. Bradford’s property management business profits from managing rental properties. While the rest of the families in Cornelius will have to worry about their children being in harms way because the house next door rents out. And remember John Bradford’s involvement with 77 toll lanes? DON’T VOTE FOR BRADFORD!
Bradford is one of those responsible for the terrible toll road that we are stuck with for 50 years. He demonstrated his disrespect for residents of Cornelius by celebrating his being elected by having his victory photo taken on the overpass to the toll road thumbing his nose to voters. This is not a “duplicate comment” like you are claiming every time I make a comment.
Keep in mind who is going to be the best candidate for our children and our Constitution rights. It seems clear to me The democrats are pushing inappropriate books into our schools and trying to eliminate 1 and 2nd amendments.
Its our duty to be clear what these candidates stand for? Please choose carefully!
