Davidson may consider resolution condemning events in DC, legislators weigh in
Jan. 11. A baker’s dozen of Mecklenburg legislators has condemned President Trump’s actions after last Wednesday’s events unfolded, which included the death. “Our Republic was wounded this week. Americans must now work to heal those wounds and those responsible must be held accountable,” the legislators said in a prepared statement.

Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick was killed after confronting the mob of rioters who raided the US Capitol on Wednesday.
Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina said President Donald Trump “bears responsibility” for Wednesday’s riots by “promoting the unfounded conspiracy theories that have led to this point.”
Mecklenburg legislators signing on include: Rep. Kelly Alexander, Rep. Nasif Majeed, Rep. John Autry, Sen. Jeff Jackson, Rep. Mary Belk, Sen. Natasha Marcus, Rep. Terry Brown, Sen. Mujtaba Mohammed, Rep. Becky Carney, Sen. DeAndrea Salvador, Rep. Wesley Harris, Sen. Joyce Waddell and Rep. Rachel Hunt.
Nationally, Republicans Sen. Patrick J. Toomey of Pennsylvania and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska said it is time for Trump to go.
On Jan. 20, the United States will have a new President and Vice President.
Davidson elected officials are discussing a formal resolution condemning the events in Washington last week. Short of that they may set aside time for each commissioner to comment at tomorrow’s meeting. Cornelius is apparently not considering a resolution. The Cornelius Town Board meets next week.

Shame on the Cornelius Town Board if you do not speak out at this moment.
Oh, good. That’ll show ’em!
Where was this outrage and action when cities were burning, livelihoods destroyed, and lives taken throughout 2020?? The events at our capitol should be condemned. The most dangerous thing to our country is the media and the useful idiots who embrace them.
I don’t care what Davidson’s elected officials have to say about last week’s events. They don’t speak for me. They should focus instead on local issues.
I have the ability to speak for myself. Please do not speak for me. You were elected to tend to local issues in Davidson.
You should focus on that.
“The events at our capitol should be condemned.” Exactly (as should all violence and destruction of property), by our local leaders: the Town of Cornelius Board of Commissioners.
I you had no response to this past summers rioting, burning, and looting, why do you feel the urge to respond to this?
It’s a rhetorical question.
