COVID-19 update Aug. 27
Aug. 27. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 8,105 new cases of the coronavirus statewide, as well as 47 new deaths statewide. Hospitalizations climbed yet again, to 3,651 statewide.
There has been an unbroken increase in reported hospitalizations due to COVID since July 8.
NCDHHS said that 912 adults were in ICUs because of the coronavirus. Fifteen percent are on ventilators, according to NCDHHS.
NC deaths
A total of 14,319 North Carolinians have died from the coronavirus.
Testing
Positive tests are at 12.8 percent statewide. The goal is 5 percent or less.
Mecklenburg
In Mecklenburg County, there were 611 new cases from Thursday to today, and four new COVID-related deaths. The county-wide positive test rate is 13.2 percent.
North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday)
Cornelius: 18 new cases, 3,412 cumulative total, 26 deaths total.
Davidson: 9 new cases, 1,987 cumulative total, 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 48 new cases, 7,352 cumulative total, 58 deaths total.
Novant Health Medical Group is reopening its COVID-19 testing location in East Mecklenburg on Monday, Aug. 30. Located at the Triangle Shopping Center at 6070 East Independence, the testing site will operate Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm. Appointments are required and walk-ins will not be accepted.

What is the excuse now as the FDA has approved the vaccine? I don’t get why you want to get sick….especially if you are healthy now and have no serious conditions.
