Feb 26. UPDATE. The Cornelius Town Board voted 5-0 at a special meeting Friday afternoon to leave the Lake Norman Regional Transportation Commission. With Huntersville’s departure as well, it means the four-town LNTC effectively comes to an end June 30, the end of the fiscal year. The Cornelius Town Board’s resolution, however, said the town remains committed to a regional approach to transportation, and will seek an “effective way to impact regional transportation issues.” Commissioner Dave Gilroy said the current LNTC, while a good idea, did not live up to its promise in two areas: The Red Line from Charlotte to Lake Norman, and the plan to widen I-77 with toll lanes. “I haven’t seen any positive impact,” the long-term commissioner said about the LNTC. He said the Red Line plan promulgated by the LNTC was misguided to a “catastrophic” extent, while the I-77 toll plan, and the 50-year contract behind it “will cause immense damage.”

Will you please post and publish in “Cornelius Today” the exact wording of the motion that the Cornelius Commissioners passed at their special meeting on Friday, February 26, 2016? Thank you.
