Jan. 3. [One year anniversary] The Cain Center for the Arts, on its first anniversary, is being celebrated as a gathering place and economic development driver.
Paul Newton, Cain Center Board president and chair, said the founders and benefactors of the $25 million facility knew it would be much more than a beautiful building.

Community hub
“It has become a hub of excitement for performances, programs, and art exhibits. And it also serves as an economic driver for future development in the blossoming arts district, creating a high bar for inspiration and creativity,” Newton said.
The 400-seat theater, which includes an art gallery and classrooms, officially opened its doors one year ago today.
Gala event
There will be a first anniversary gala Saturday evening featuring Broadway great Mandy Gonzalez on Saturday. Tickets to the event, which includes an open bar, stationed meal and the performance, are $150 to $200.

A politician or someone who knows how to exaggerate had to have written this. Transformed? Well, o.k. it now is one big traffic jam of an area to be made worse with the forthcoming future development(s) Once against Cornelius allows overdevelopment without road improvements first. The city, as usual, will accept zero blame for this. Bottom line is Cornelius has gone only where fools would dare go.
OK – the Cain building is nice but the rest of the ‘downtown’ looks dilapidated….especially at night. Most of the street lights either don’t work are are very dim.
