Town Hall closed due to Debby; scattered power outages in Cornelius

Aug. 8. Cornelius Town Hall will be closed due to Tropical Storm Debby and potentially unsafe driving conditions. Residents may call Town Hall if there is a need to do so at 704-892-6031.
—Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools says all their buildings are closed as well.
—Mecklenburg County offices are also closed including parks.
—CharMeck 311 and 911 emergency services remain active.
—At 8:30 am Duke Energy was showing power outages down Torrence Chapel and Bethel Church..
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Mecklenburg County until 11 am; a Wind Advisory is in efffect for gusts up to 50 mph.
Strong winds and heavy rain will occur as heavy feeder bands pass through our area.
