June 30. Thigs, a European style cocktail bar with a speakeasy feel, has opened Catawba Avenue in downtown Cornelius after COVID delays. Co-owner Kas Matos said “we wanted to bring an upscale lounge with nice music to town.” Matos owns the facility with Justin Flanagan.

“I actually lived in Davidson for several years and realized the LKN area was missing a premium cocktail lounge,” Matos said.

Thigs, at 21234 Catawba Ave., is open Thursday, 5 pm to midnight; Friday and Saturday, 5 pm to 2 am; and Sunday, 2 pm to 10 pm.

The members only/private bar requires a $5 annual membership. Matos says it only takes about 10-15 seconds at the door to become a member. Once a member you can bring four additional people with you.
