Local NC senators cruise to wins
Nov. 8. By Dave Vieser. Incumbent NC Senators Natasha Marcus (D) and Vicky Sawyer (R) scored impressive victories this year, both running in newly formed districts within North Mecklenburg and Iredell counties.
Marcus’s new district encompassed the eastern segment of Cornelius, but she also gained a portion of Davidson and West Charlotte during redistricting. She won overwhelmingly with 67 percent of the vote, defeating her Republican opponent, Bonnie Leone.

Meanwhile, Senator Sawyer ran unopposed in her new district which includes the western segment of Cornelius.
