Fin & Fino open in Birkdale Village

Fin & Fino is next to Cava
Feb. 28. Restaurateur Jon Dressler has opened Fin & Fino in the former Dressler’s space in the heart of Birkdale Village.
A mainstay of fine dining in Lake Norman for two decades, Dressler’s closed for remodeling in September.
Reservations can be made online.
The brand
Fin & Fino is branded as a social seafood house with fresh seafood, high-quality meats, house-made pastas and locally grown produce through a menu of small plates.
Fin & Fino, which has a location Uptown at 135 Levine Avenue of the Arts, will allow Dressler’s restaurant company, Rare Roots Hospitality, to appeal to a broader base and attract new guests, says Dressler, a fan of the changes in Birkdale Village.
Changing times
Birkdale has changed dramatically since Dressler’s opened in 2003. Dressler said the new Fin & Fino concept is more contemporary.
Quotable
“People still appreciate good food and good service. I think they lean towards a shared plate environment, which promotes more social eating, is a fun change in the culinary world. The question is: Why eat two plates when you can try eight?”

Recently ate there and found it very loud and rather sterile. I had to shout to be heard by a friend 4 feet away in the bar area. At the table it was a little better but still quite loud. They had a la carte fish but no real sides to go with them. The server suggested mushroom toast! Had the sable fish that was not very good. The appetizers were by and large good. The king crab was tiny with the claws about half an inch wide. May appeal to a younger crowd but there were 8 of us and all agreed we would probably not go back.
