The county will conduct a controlled burn this afternoon at Cowan’s Ford Wildlife Refuge.

March 6. The Mecklenburg County Natural Resources staff are conducting a controlled burn today at Cowan’s Ford Wildlife Refuge.

The burn is expected to start about noon and smoke will affedt air quality in the downwind are for two to three hours. The refuge is located off Neck Road in Huntersville.

The county recommends, to reduce your exposure to smoke, stay indoors and avoid areas of heavy smoke.
