Aug. 2. The Cornelius Early Scholars Christian preschool has met their initial fundraising goal of $100,000, in time for the Sept. 5 start of their inaugural academic year.
The initial capital has been used to upfit donated space at First Baptist Church of Cornelius on Catawba Avenue to accommodate the Monday to Thursday half-day program, as well as startup expenses, classroom supplies and staff.
To date, 17 students are enrolled, and there is space for a few more. Cornelius Early Scholars currently offers 3- and 4-year-old classes with lunch provided. Monthly tuition is $350, with income-based scholarships available.
