Jan. 6. Bank of America has temporarily closed its branch on West Catawba without prior warning or explanation, although the on-site ATM is open. The temporary closure apparently extends from this past Monday Jan. 4 through Thursday Jan. 7, with reopening, according to the web site, this Friday. It’s unclear if the temporary closure is related to the coronavirus pandemic. Bank officials did not respond for comment. A sign on the drive-up window said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are temporarily closed.”

The closing of a bank location without prior warning or notification is always a cause for concern – deep concern if that is where you do your banking. BoA needs to explain this sooner – much sooner – rather than later.
We are in Hendersonville, NC and had the same thing happen at our branch. I found out from a comment on one of my social network sites that the branch would be closed for 10 days. You would think with all the technology available they could have shot a quick email advising their customers of the situation. I contacted them and went and got important documents out of my safety deposit box and their representatives that let me in said they were not allowed to comment due to Privacy Regulations. Not impressed!!
How do I access my safety deposit box?
There is a new story with that information today, Jan. 8
Wells Fargo at Brawley and Williamson rd in Mooresville NC also had a Closed sign posted this week in the drive thru window without prior notice. Rather at odds with the big sign that said “All drive thru lanes open”. I called the main branch while sitting in the closed drive thru lane and was told they couldn’t staff the location and it would be closed at least the rest of this week, but that “if I needed to, I could go to one of the other Mooresville locations”.
This was quite a surprise to me. Wells Fargo is a large bank. Surely they could have brought in people from another location. I didn’t know about the closing till I was in the drive thru at 4:45pm today with a cash deposit. Too late to make it to another location. Bad business.
