Jan. 24. Northwood Ravin’s plans for four multi-family apartment buildings as part of the Greenway Gartens project—on the future South Street Extension—come before the Architectural Review Board Friday for review and recommendations on proposed building elevations.
Northwood Raven will be presenting their proposed multifamily building design to the ARB for actual approval. Once they receive ARB approval, they will fully design the buildings for construction permitting.
It means the project, approved by a prior Town Board, is much closer to coming out of the ground.
Northwood Ravin is working with Olde Mecklenburg Brewery to bring a new location to the site just north of downtown Cornelius.
Background
OMB initially purchased the 24-acre site on Zion Avenue for a brewery and biergarten. But revised plans have OMB occupying 2.5 acres, with Northwood Ravin doing a mixed-used development with apartments, townhomes and additional commercial space.
The Architectural Review Board meets at noon Friday in Town Hall.

Apartment rendering

Since the previous Cornelius Today was just mentioning the fact that Cornelius desperately needs affordable housing, will Northwood Raven be adding that to their development plans?
How do we make sure that the OMB part of the proposal is also satisfied, since the approved project included it, and the site approved site plan has it still.
I think we need to ensure that this does not turn into a bate and switch. Getting the support needed by putting in a great venue (in a great location), and then the venue gets pulled out.
Can Cornelius TODAY help make that part of this story a clear issue, and maybe check-in with our mayor and commissions on their perspectives?
Tom took the words out of my mind, smells like – looks like – feels like-
Bate & switch…..
not all development is the same. this needs review & discernment.
We tell Cornelius what our top priorities are. They ignore them and just approve more apartments.
Here we go AGAIN! The almighty dollar reins
Supreme! It’s the current n tax payers n surroundings
That get abused n ignored n the excessive traffic issues never addressed n incorporated in the construction design.
Yep traffic assessments are done under the pretense of a solution down the road! Whatever happened to preservation of green spa ce to enhance quality of life?
