Jan. 25. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools are closed, but most businesses in Cornelius will open and operate as usual. Garbage service is up and running, with the town’s contractor doing Friday’s route today as well as Monday’s regular route. Banks will open after many of them took a three-day snow holiday.

If your trash collection was Friday, or it’s today, Town Manager Anthony Roberts says please be patient. Crews are working to pick up both routes by tonight.

Meanwhile eight or nine Public Works employees were out all weekend working the roads with sand, brine and plows or blades—neither of the latter being terribly effective on ice.

Roberts said warmer temperatures today will help with road clean-up. That said, if your road is particularly icy, he said let Town Hall know. The number is 704-892-6031.
