Bales will seek 2nd term as Huntersville mayor

March 20. Announcing plans to seek a second term as mayor of Huntersville, Melinda Bales said she will work on a number of additional initiatives including a safe route across Hwy. 73 for greenway users, a microtransit program for high school students to access the early college program at CPCC-Merancas and an information technology business incubator in downtown Huntersville.

In a press release, the 24-year resident said her achievements include:

• Collaborating with CATS to launch a microtransit pilot program for North Mecklenburg, so Huntersville can be an easier place to live for our elderly, disabled and other residents with limited transportation options.

• Consulting with state transportation officials on long-awaited Gilead Road intersection improvements, which recently commenced, so all Huntersville residents can live with less traffic congestion.
• Supporting SEG Systems’ move to the Interchange Logistics Center, so more residents can have a great place to work, right here in Huntersville.
• Collaborating with Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools to include several major Huntersville school renovation and construction projects in its proposed 2023 bond package, so students can learn in safe, high-quality facilities.
• Supporting the addition of a permanent sculpture at the town’s downtown trailhead as well as a rotating SculpTOUR exhibition, making Huntersville’s greenway an even more beautiful place to play.
