Cable contractors cause another wastewater spill in The Peninsula
Spill on Spinnakers Reach
April 12. There’s been another sewage spill in The Peninsula due to cable contractors digging underground for Spectrum, according to residents on Spinnaker’s Reach, not far from Jetton. About 400 gallons out of 630 gallons spilled reached Lake Norman in the Catawba River Watershed.
A contractor accidentally damaged a pipe, residents said. Charlotte Water confirmed that construction damage caused the overflow.
In March cable subcontractors were responsible for two spills in The Peninsula, one on Mainsail Pointe and one on nearby Peninsula Club.
Crews Spectrum hired first to install the new lines were fired after they placed the junction boxes between the street and the sidewalk on Spinnakers Reach, according to residents. Charlotte Water was on scene 15 minutes after the spill was reported.

Is there a fine or penalty for the contracted crews or Spectrum in all these occurrences?
They make a mess everywhere they go. They don’t patch or repair, they pile dirt and stone in the holes, throw out some sort of weed seed and straw and leave the mess for homeowners. I do know of one case they actually did repair an irrigation system they messed up.
