Dec. 18. By Dave Yochum. Rezoning proposals for two new breweries come before the Cornelius Town Board at the meeting tonight.

Royal Bliss plans a 10,000 square foot microbrewery and restaurant facility on 2.98 acres at 19149 West Catawba Avenue. The existing zoning district is Village Center and the proposed zoning district is Conditional Zoning. The property behind the Griffin Building on West Catawba is currently vacant.

According to Larry Griffin Jr. of Griffin Brothers Acquisitions conditional zoning will permit them to locate the entrance and parking in the “desired sections of the site.”

—Aspirational Adventures has requested amended zoning for a one-acre parcel at 20219 N Main, immediately north of the Food Lion parking lot. The owners—two brothers and their spouses—plan a 5,251 square foot microbrewery called Fruitful Roots The existing zoning district is Neighborhood Mixed Use and the proposed zoning district is Conditional Zoning. One parcel is currently vacant and the other two parcels are currently occupied by a duplex dwelling unit.

Brothers Douglas Marion and Travis Marion and their wives Shannon and Chelsea, respectively, plan a taproom and brewery with a small kitchen and shaded patio.

How many more breweries does the town of Cornelius need?!? Seems we have as many of those as we have banks (and that is a lot)!
Seems more breweries constitutes more police activity needed. Stop the madness!

Outstanding. I graciously welcome Royal Bliss to Cornelius. It’s a wonderful brewery and will prosper. A pleasant way to offset and stabilize taxes. Good Luck Royal.

Craft Breweries? Call them what they are … BARS, selling overpriced homemade ale/beer.

We currently have 3 breweries well spaced out. 2 more would be a welcome addition. However, the Town Board should really start limiting Karens. We have far more Karens than banks.
